Purple Square at DF2U
Find out what Purple Square at DF2U experienced at the Salesforce conference that is “Dreamforce”. Unfortunately, we were unable to attend the full San Francisco event but the follow up highlights replay “Dreamforce To You” at the Excel Centre, London on 4 December. Even on a smaller scale with just 3,500 registered attendees, it’s certainly an impressive setup. Salesforce have their Ohana (family) philosophy and the inclusivity was felt throughout. So, taking into account all the various forward-looking caveats….
The keynotes opener was led by Jayne-Anne Gadhia, Salesforce UK and Ireland CEO. They have been busy of late, with acquisitions of acquiring Tableau and MuleSoft. Time was spent also talking about the new Customer 360 offering. This particular session was wrapped up with a Q&A hosted by Andrew Marr as we heard success stories from the likes of BT, Barclays, Lloyds Insurance and the Salesforce Supermums. It appears that David Beckham and Barack Obama were indisposed since San Francisco .
Throughout the day we saw examples from Customer 360 of how:
- Einstein Designer is being used by Louis Vuitton to change the way that products are displayed onscreen or for presenting tailored product recommendations based on items already purchased
- Einstein Voice skills from Caesars Entertainment have the ability to vocally run bespoke and dynamic onboarding processes (in this case giving special awards to customers)
- The system is being used to cover awareness, acquisition, billing, targeting, Live agent communication and chatbots
- Sustainability cloud can help you assess your impact and move your organisation towards carbon neutrality
- Data Manager allows you to manage point to point integrations, ingesting data from multiple sources to create a centralised ID and single 360-degree view of a customer, much like we have seen with Acoustic Exchange (UBX)
- Arizona state university is using Blockchain technology to share students’ academic records between colleges to maximise their chances of gaining a degree
Trailhead Go is now appearing on the App Store, as came the announcement that the entire platform now has complete mobile parity. Trailhead itself is obviously a very important part of the offering, whether it be for users wishing to learn how to use the system or organisations wishing to repurpose the platform for their own training. MuleSoft is being brought on-board with training paths and certifications for MuleSoft specialists. The aim is to have 100,000 new trailblazers in this area, 10,000 alone from the UK.
I think a key message for me was the one that many large-scale digital transformation projects are failing due to organisations trying to translate existing processes rather than transforming the way they work, an issue we must work with on a regular basis.
A fun and interesting day spent catching up with friends old and new and new technology we’re very much looking forward to working with. Now we just need to know where to find ourselves one of those Ranger’s hats!
